Anugerah Round 4 – Female Anugerettes ditulis oleh Gumbira

The results for Male Anugerettes will be revealed next week. After last week’s performance which dropped a notch, the expectation just gets higher as everyone awaits their favourite female group.

Carrying the theme as tribute to Singapore’s Female Icon, Rahimah Rahim and Anita Sarawak, the girls were tasked to choose songs from these two to give out their best shot.

Theme : Tribute to Rahimah Rahim & Anita Sarawak

R3FA1_Hafizah

Hafizah Nasser – Seksis (by Anita Sarawak)

The show kicked off with a brave performance by Hafizah Nasser with Seksis, by Anita Sarawak. We think it was a good start to see someone at least getting out of her comfortable ballad zone. “Berani tapi kurang cermat” according to judge Eddy Ali. Inspite of her enthusiasm in proving her showmanship on stage, we think that she probably had misplaced her focus on the importance of balancing her vocals and her stamina. It started off pretty interesting, but it went down a bit flat – just when she couldn’t sustain her notes properly.

R3FA2_Sarah

Sarah Aqilah – Bawalah Daku Pergi (by Anita Sarawak)

She nailed it Again for the high pitch! Sarah looks confident and exudes an aura that she’s giving out her all in this song. Judge Eddy gave her an A+ for vocal and performance. While judge Gani commented hers as a “polished performance but it’s of comfort zone”. It is still incomparable to her previous performance which we thought was still the best. Maybe it’s her choice of song? Get out of your comfort zone! Like what judge Eddy Ali mentioned ‘Tragedi Buah Epal would have been more interesting!’

R3FA3_Catty

Catty – by Rahimah Rahim

While her vocal control has been consistent, she needs to work out on her expression – facial and body language. On TV, she looks quite expressionless. However, her delivery never disappoints. Judge Eddy commented “berani menyahut cabaran menyampaikan lagu pantas, tapi nampak takut- takut”. Catty seems to be giving too little, when she potentially has so much more to offer. She’s probably the only one whose vocals often lead to goose bumps. It’s time to Roar! No more meowing, girl.

R3FA4_Nora

Nora – Bisikanlah Cinta (by Anita Sarawak)

Vocally almost there. Pretty face. But we feel that she could give a lot better. Judge Indra commented she picked the right song. “Overall bagus, tapi intro flat” Nora seemed so angsty since the start of the competition. With her fist clenched most of the time, she needs to be more relaxed and work out a bit more on her expressions on stage. Sounded a little nasal at parts, but this week’s round showed much improvements on her vocal techniques. Don’t be complacent, keep improving and please smile more, Nora.

R3FA5_Nani

Nani – Jika Begini (Rahimah Rahim)

Firstly, ‘Salam buat semuanya! Apa khabar!!!!!’

Good expression on TV.  However, her voice seems coarse and she looked too forceful. She looked like she enjoyed herself, but we think it lacks of something.  Judge Indra Shahrir finds her just ’50-50’.  Nani seems to have difficulties controlling her vocals, which can be clearly heard on TV. At certain point, her vocal tone seems strong but we got quite distracted with the shaky vibrato and the susceptibility of going flat or breaking her voice. With better song choice and more confidence on her vocals, she could be doing better in the upcoming rounds.

R3FA6_Kunjung

Kunjung – Akhirnya Kini Pasti (by Anita Sarawak)

Who wouldn’t know this song? Yet Kunjung made us forget the original entirely with her rendition and brought the whole house down! “Anda telah meletakkan diri anda lebih tinggi” according to Judge Ann. Creative arrangement of music and a perfect ten for showmanship. We couldn’t get enough! She just needs to control a little bit more on her vibrato though, otherwise she’s really there for a reason.

Anugerah Gaya Lustre

Stylist Azni Samdin picked Nora & Kunjung for the best style and fashion taste this week.

Group A : Hafizah, Sarah and Catty – Gadis & Bunga (Rahimah Rahim)

What a cute performance. Judge Indra finds their dance very good, ‘tapi tolong jaga pitching’ to Hafizah. Somehow we felt that there wasn’t much feel injected to their performance. We felt that some were either too obligated to perform their choreographed dance routine, while some were too eager to give it all out – but in the end both resulted in the loss of focus on their vocals.

Group B : Nora, Nani and Kunjung – Antara Yang Manis (Anita Sarawak)

IMG_3192

With a combined vocal powerhouse, this has got to be one of the best group performances we’ve seen thus far. Nani was seen to have picked up a little bit after the previous comments from her first solo performance. Judge Ann finds Group B looks great together, with well synchronized dance routine, while judge Gani commented Kunjung in ‘a class of her own’. Nora and Kunjung were both highlighted as being balanced in vocals and performance wise for this segment.
