‘Hi Tea with Afgan’, organised by SELEB INC is organised as part of “Afgan di Kota Singa” (similar to Ungu’s Ramadhan trip here) television taping that will air on Channel Suria within the next few weeks.

Gorgeous Rilla Melati, replaced Sarah Sechan, who dramatically couldn’t make it for the show at the very last minute. She was paired up with Haizad Imram – quite a chatty combo, we have to say.  Performance by Delima, a local traditional ensemble kicked off the show was followed by performance by Haizad with “Kenangan Terindah” and Addy’s instrumental from his ‘Xpedisi’ television programme on Channel Suria shot entirely in Jakarta.

The venue’s grand, the food was good but we felt it could have been made better with escalation from one act to another, and introduction of performers from a covered-up holding room, rather than at the stage front.

We were expecting quite a roar from the crowd when Afgan when he was introduced. Or at least, with no introduction, ‘Entah’ or ‘Bukan Cinta Biasa’ (being 2 of his hits) to be played as he entered the ballroom with door flung open as he enter with grand entrance.

Afgan’s ‘Terima Kasih Cinta’ received good response on local radio but we’re unsure about his popularity amongst the tweens Singapore who usually prefer the extremes of local Idols to foreign rock bands. But we’re sure with extended pre-publicity, the event would have attracted more enthusiastic fans. Please do spare the old folks from the beneficiary next time.

And ooh, celebrity designer, Fatimah Mohsin was given extra special attention by Afgan especially when he serenaded her with ‘Bukan Cinta Biasa’, as he repeated coyly on “baju ini untuk aku yach?” Quite a subtle mention of sponsor credit right there.

Afgan’s outfit was sold off as an auction and collection will be directed entirely to Jamiyah Homes for the elderly.
