Christian Bautista live in Singapore 22nd august 2010
This 22nd August, Sunday will be the perfect way to end that weekend as Filipino heartthrob; Christian Bautista is set to serenade the local crowd with the smooth lulling of romantic songs in the perfect tune. Though Bautista has performed in Singapore before, special guess Raki Vega will be in town too to join the date!
Christian is the eldest of three siblings and discovered his talent since the tender age of 7. Starting off as a choir member, the young balladeer began focusing on singing and showbiz when he was in college. The scene that dominated the spotlight however was his stunning performance in ABS-CBN’s reality show, “Star In A Million”. He was easily the most popular finalist, second only to the winner.
The multi-talented sensation truly gained Asia’s attention after performing the song, “The Way You Look At Me”, featured in his first album, “Christian Bautista” that achieved Multi-Platinum status in two countries. Bautista went on to release five other albums, most of which hit Platinum status within their first week. The young talent has also appeared in several television series as well as the big screen, with the most recent being “West Side Story” in 2008. Bautista has also performed a duet with Singapore’s own Tay Kewei titled, “Please Be Careful With My Heart”.
This special performance will be held at Club Neverland, a popular nightspot located at Orchard Plaza. The premium club can accommodate 1,500 people and has already played host to several live concerts. Fans (especially the ladies), can expect an enchanting atmosphere throughout the entire programme from 2pm onwards.
The mastermind behind this sensational event is none other than Wei Media Pte Ltd, working in collaboration with 360o Orange Entertainment Pte Ltd. Wei Media is a creative agency that aids companies in delivering meaningful messages, specialising in film production, events management and graphic design.
All fans can purchase their tickets by contacting Wei Media at 9745 3694 / 9686 2600 or via the participating outlets in Lucky Plaza shopping centre.

The Stoned Revivals – 20 years of Independence, Peace & Love 27.06.2010 ditulis oleh Gumbira none Komen

Sunday 27 June 2010 | 4.00pm | The Substation, 45 Armenian Street | Tickets at $10 available at the entrance
Stoned Revivals, the well-known Singaporean indie band will bid a sad farewell to one of their founding members – vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Esam Salleh, in the only way they know how; through a rambunctious concert performance at the Substation.
The concert dubbed The Stoned Revivals – 20 years of Independence, Peace & Love will also be a bittersweet one for the band as 2010 marks their 20th year of existence together.
This concert will not just pay homage to Esam who will be migrating to Melbourne with his family in August, but will also celebrate how Stoned Revivals have collectively inspired and set the tone for the generations of musicians. Hence it is befitting that this concert will also feature some of the bands that have been influenced by the sounds and carefree spirit of Stoned Revivals.
Joining the band’s line-up of Esam Salleh @ Slowjaxx (vocals, guitar), Kamal Yacob @ Ironlungs (bass), Syed Munir @ Mr. Moon (guitars) and Syed Ahmad @ Dr. Blue (drums) on stage will be bands Stellarium, Spacedays, Moods, Johnny Shameless, The Great Spy Experiment and American musician David Knight.
This concert will also feature the debut of the band’s documentary – featuring their journey, achievement and interviews with some of the faces who have been instrumental in shaping the Stoned Revivals that we know, including celebrities, club-owners and fellow musicians.
This indie band has stayed in the hearts of music-lovers and aficionados here, having had the honour of opening for No Doubt in 1997 and headlining the first-ever Heineken Green Room Sessions in Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam. They have also been invited to contribute to countless soundtracks for films by homegrown directors like Eric Khoo, Glenn Goei and CheeK. Stoned Revivals is also one of a handful of local bands who have had their songs “Goodil” and “Stoned Alleycat” top the local charts.
Join us for an evening of memories, musicianship and crazy fun as we celebrate local music and bid adieu to one of the nation’s finest musicians.

An Hour Wasn’t Enough With Anuar & Ziana ditulis oleh Gumbira none Komen

The doors of Venus Ballroom opened at 1pm with hopes that this could be a great start for an event to start on time. The buffet spread located at the right side, and well sorted seats gave signals that this will. The host, ‘confused rock chick’, (that’s the exact word how the introduction was done) Aura Shai, from Ria 89.7FM appeared. She got the ball rolling by randomly selecting fans to sing some liners to some songs, namely ‘Nyanyian Sepasang Hati’ – that is Anuar & Ellina’s famous number during the childhood glory.
3.41pm for the whole show to began was definitely ridiculous! It was draggy and made most fans cranky. We do understand how events work. Not really a fan of the “sabo” segments to be picked to sing on stage though, sorry. Oops! Can’t help cringing. There were much more ardent fans at the event who would probably have traded places with some others to sing on stage, given the chance.
Nevertheless, Anuar with his charm, (we seriously don’t know how he do this all the time) and Ziana’s interactive humor made up for the long wait. Their endless conversations and internal jokes made us felt like as though we had known them for a long time as they share casual banters – ‘Kita kan jarang berjumpa, tapi bila jumpa, Nuar nyanyi lagu saya, saya nyanyi lagu Nuar’
Many were swept off their feet, especially the girls who were lucky enough to be serenaded face to face by Anuar. Save for some ladies who kissed and hugged Abang Nuar, we applaud the rest who enjoyed good clean fun. Sorry, makcik, we had to minus all your points for talking so loud during the entire performance. The time spent and whatever time we had left, with Anuar and Ziana were filled up with most to most 5 songs by each of them, which lasted till 5pm. You do the math. Definitely not enough for we hoped it would be an entire four hours showcase – especially since this is their first appearance together. The fantastic duo made us fall in love all over again, even with the heartbreaking numbers.
Other than the haunting ‘Lelaki Ini’, Anuar also performed ‘Ketulusan Hati’, ‘Kau Bunga Cintaku’, ‘Keabadian Cinta’ and ‘Perpisahan’. He generously croon to ‘Hanya Milikmu’ and a snippet of his new song as teasers, in his own special way of making the audiences anticipate for more and went almost crazy. Now, get this – Anuar’s new single is set to release in September.
Ziana, or her full name, Siti Roziana Zain (we cannot help noticing her similiarity with our jazzy songbird, Rozeanna) got us thinking how a mother of four could look that hot singing her first hit, ‘Madah Berhelah’, ‘Kalau Mencari Teman’ and the most recent, ‘Dingin’ to name a few.
The siblings did not miss the chance for an impromptu duet with Anuar being the first to sing ‘Menadah Gerimis’.
Overall, good attempt for Artista Entertainment Solutions for bringing the duo to Singapore. We hope there would be earlier publicity and more invitations handed out to all media friends in Singapore. Everyone says ‘Singapore’s entertainment industry is too small’ and with that, the better we can manage it!

Reduced Tax “fantastic” For Entertainment Scene ditulis oleh Gumbira none Komen
SINGAPORE: The entertainment industry could soon see more performances and bigger acts coming to Singapore’s shores.
To attract these internationally-rated acts, the Government will reduce the tax companies have to pay when they bring in a non-resident performer, said Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
The withholding tax rate of non-resident public entertainers will drop from 15 per cent to 10 per cent for five years.
“Singapore’s entertainment scene is emerging as an important part of our appeal as a global city,” said Mr Shanmugaratnam.
Mr Ross Knudson, owner of LAMC Productions, which has brought in international acts such as Muse and Lady Gaga, described the news as “fantastic”.
Organising a show at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, he said, could cost more than a million dollars. “It would really increase the viability of bringing in more shows … and bigger acts,” he said.
“We don’t have many sponsors in this market … so anything which helps us reduce risk is a tremendous help.” And being able to bring in more shows has its benefits, from attracting more tourists to having more locals hired to work on the productions, said Mr Knudson. “It generates a lot of revenue in and around the shows.”

PS: Note to the Finance Minister: How about funding local musicians?
