The year just began, and as anticipated, a string of non-stop music events have commenced. Glenn’s well-publicized love story with Dewi Sandra may long be over, but one of their most romantic duets, ‘When I Fall In Love’ (Nat King Cole) became a classic hit. February features romantic Indonesian crooner, Glenn Fredly, appearing solo (no pun intended) for a Valentine’s Month Special.

With 60% of the album consist of English songs, Glenn personally choose Singapore as the first to launch his “Lovevolution” album, as reported in CeriaRadio.com.  Exciting!

He has released 6 solo albums since 2001 with totaling more than 1 million copies in Indonesia alone. Several hits from the six albums are ‘Cukup Sudah’, ‘Kasih Putih’, ‘Sekali Ini Saja’, ‘Happy Sunday’, ‘You Are My Everything’, ‘Hikayat Cintaku’, of course his big hit ‘Januari’, among others.  His latest compilation album, “Glenn Fredly Private Collection” was released in 2008.

It’s been over a year since his ‘Sayang Sayang’ hit brought him across the border. Now, out this month, Aliff is back with a groovier tune “Cinta”. We’ve noticed it on high rotation via Hot FM’s playlist tweet. The album cover of  ‘It’s Aliff’s Time’ shows him donning a leather jacket, looking all grown up – a vast difference from his debut. The album is released and distributed by Sony Music (Malaysia).

The pity is that Aliff has just started serving National Service, so we don’t really think it was him to reply to your tweets. And according to his Fanpage, http://twitter.com/AlifAzizReal1 is another case of somebody else borrowing his personality. It’s fake.

This year, Tabung Amal Aidilfitri’s fourth year collaborating with Suria Channel came to its grand peak last Friday as Sinaran Hati Gemilang raised over *$640,290.

We haven’t seen her in a while but it was all warm welcome for Huda Ali who hosted the event with Khairuddin Shaharom. TAA Ambassador, Didicazli, hosted the tearjerker segments, and later presented his new single ‘Takkan Kembali’. Other performances include Sarah Aqilah, Kunjung, Ahli Fiqir and the much anticipated musical return of Hady Mirza with his song taken off his brand new album, ‘Sang Penyanyi’, ‘Angkasa’. We were quite hoping for a surprise duet of Rossa and Sarah Aqilah for ‘Hati Ini Yang Kau Sakiti’. That would have been a fantastic combination!

Four ‘gemilang’ multi-talented and outstanding individuals, Mr Iskandar Mirza Ismail was featured with Hady Mirza performing P Ramlee’s ‘Manusia’. Marina Yusoff appeared in ‘Tarian Hati’ dance choreographed by her mother-in-law, Madam Som Said while Shahril of Anugerah Skrin fame, together with Kunjung, presented a poetry piece, ‘Tubuh Kurus’ penned by novelist Mr Isa Kamari.

We felt a tug at the heartstrings during a short skit featuring the true story of a daughter diagnosed with cancer, written by Mr Nadiputra, was acted almost convincingly by relatively unknown actresses.

While the 2 hour programme was pretty much a quite and mellow affair, appropriate to its charity element, we can look forward to the snazzier numbers with glitter and glamour when “Gemilang” goes on air in February celebrating Suria’s 10th Anniversary.

We found this video on our boss’ YouTube page, recording Kunjung on Christmas morning last year. Despite rumours in Manja (January), no thanks to the ambiguous writer, Kak Nam, Kunjung is recording her mini-album as scheduled and is not waiting in line with anybody. Her first single ‘Awangan’ is due to be released soon, as being recorded here by Imran at the Chapter6 studios.

She will also be singing a number from the Alunan Kasih compilation, of which, the results will be announced too shortly! Good luck Kunjung! You can also add her on Facebook too.

And when we thought it’s over, news just released that Sezairi received 61%of total votes from Singapore Idol Final, leaving Sylvia with only 39%. Wonder why the secrecy since the gap is so far apart.

This reveal is hoped to put a stop to the debate over Sezairi’s win.  Voters felt that while Slyvia stood a better chances at winning, but the finals proved that Sezairi’s rendition of ‘Crazy’ was really promising.  Mediacorp had declined to release the figures when the issue arise after the winning.

Well, let’s just look forward to Sezairi’s album debut which will be released in either April or May. Unlike the previous winners who are automatically signed under Hype Reocrds, Sezairi has signed with Universal Music Singapore.  The 19 year old Najip Ali lookalike was listed for National Service last Monday.

Look what we found through searches in Facebook showed that there were more than 10 groups and fanpages created for Sezairi.

Well, he won, and that’s that.  Give this guy a break!

Black is the Grand Champion for TV3’s “Mentor” where he appears as the protege for Mas Idayu. He also qualifies for the final round of” Muzik Muzik Final”, for his hit song, “Aku Rindu Sayang Kamu”, scheduled to be held on 10th January. Keep a lookout for that.

We haven’t heard from Elfee for quite a while eversince his previous “Sumbangsih” album with ‘Lamunan Hati’ hit.

MTV sends you the best vibe for the year, by providing a fantastic lineup  for the Tuesdays Special.  MTV Asian Takeaway Nusantara airs on Mondays to Fridays at 3pm for Malaysia and 2pm for Singapore and Hong Kong.

The entire Esplanade Theatre was filled to the brim as Singapore welcomed M Nasir and Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza in their first ever appearance for ‘Bagaikan Sakti’ last week.  All tickets were sold out in it’s first month eversince it was released.

‘Bagaikan Sakti’ was organised by Beyond Events and airs LIVE on Astro for RM10, only available for Malaysians, and is available to watch for ten days.

Among the numbers performed were the least expected ‘Mawarku’, ‘Lagu Gembira’, plus a special catchy duet for the night, ‘Hanya Semalam’ composed by M Nasir and lyrics written by Siti Nurhaliza.

Siti belted out ‘Cindai’, ‘Nirmala’ effortlessly with her dance moves amongst her ballads, “Biarlah Rahsia”, “Ku Percaya Ada Cinta”.  We think Ku Milikmu was really unforgettable with insertion of Beyonce’s number. Sifu completely conquered the third segment with ‘Ada’, ‘Hati Emas’, ‘Sentuhan Listrik’ among other hits, including the late Sudirman’s ‘Milik Siapa Gadis Ini’.

DSN’s latest album with Kris Dayanti was also available for sale, but many left with dissappointment as it was snapped in just minutes.

Each of them showcased different flavours but yet the entire show was simply tasty. Comparisons for similarities and differences have been anticipated but they effortlessly conquered our hearts wit their undeniable powerful showmanship in working together.

That just sums up how magical and unforgettable the duo really are!  No points for certain bad mannered audience though.
