Potential Winners Singled Out! ditulis oleh Gumbira none Komen

In this week’s elimination, Aliff Aziz who is currently serving his National Service opened the stage with his latest song, ‘Boom Boom Boom’. As how I had mentioned for Group B’s performance, I’m confident that this week’s results will be determined by votes. Nevertheless, I’m expecting Firuz and Nasriah to be voted out.
Kicking the barrage of criticisms, Khai refused to comment on which group had performed better. He did however, state that the first group was very disappointing and there was no honesty in their acting. They didn’t look convincing when they came across someone who’s been shot and gave the impression that it looks a lot more like they had come across a dead cat. He further mentions that with no urgency, there will be no conflict resulting in no drama. He also further commented that in the past four weeks that he’s been observing, the only time contestants look very honest and sincere is when they have their heads on the chopping block and are receiving their results.
Khai felt that the second group was ‘The Best’ and singled out Syirah and Diana as potential winners. He found Group 3 to be ‘so-so’. He liked the first part of the performance but after the fall, he was disappointed with Firuz who looked like he was reading the news.
Rilla then agreed to say that there was significant improvement in Group B’s acting quality. She then singled out Syirah and Erwin as potential winners. Rilla mentioned that Syirah’s acting quality is good and that she has managed to grasp her own techniques, not influenced by any type of method acting. Rilla particularly made a stress on ‘Reality Check’ to all contestants who check their Facebook ‘Fan Page’. She comments that there is a thin line between being inviting and begging due to overexposure as home viewers are already seeing a lot of contestants with two shows per week. Rilla ended off by saying that she can see from today who really wants to act and who just wants attention from the acting. Brutal truth!
Ariati gave a slightly different comment as she found similarity between the two groups in terms of lack of understanding of script. She also mentioned and reiterated the point that contestants need to work as a team. She stressed that contestants need to learn how to control their expression, particularly the eyes and lips as slight changes in these could give a different impression especially when the camera zooms in.
With the comments above, the bottom 4 for this week are Ariff, Fadzli, Jasmine and Nasriah. I’m surprised that Fadzli, Ariff and Jasmine were chosen to be in the bottom 4 given that they have put up credible performances deserving of better results but then again, votes count a lot too. Nasriah once again, in the bottom pit and leaving Anugerah Skrin this week is Ariff and Jasmine.
It’s getting really hard to predict who will be out next as weeks roll by but hopefully when the groups combine for the quarter-finals, it’ll be easier to make better judgement calls on who deserves to be sent home as fast as possible. Seriously, home viewers voting which counts for 50% could really sway the judges results. I think it’ll be better maybe if the judges could give their comments after watching the performances than to wait till the results show because home viewers who know nuts would probably be voting for the most good looking performer rather than the whole package speaking of which, if you don’t have the package, then you better go find someway to get that package or you won’t survive long in the industry.
Have I told you how much I love how the judges gave their comments for this episode?

Expected Win For Idol While The Rest Rock On ditulis oleh Gumbira none Komen

AnugeraHitz.sg is a first collaborative effort involving MediaCorp Suria, MediaCorp Warna 94.2FM and Ria 89.7FM, as well as Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) to honor the best in the local Malay music industry.
This inaugural awards show presented a total of 10 award categories and a special “Lifetime Music Achievement” award that went to Rahimah Rahim, affectionately known to many as Kak Girl. The show aimed to recognize local Malay recording artistes, composers, lyricists and album producers who have excelled in the music field regardless new or veteran to the industry.
The LIVE show held at TV Theatre with audiences dressed to the ‘Rock Nation’ theme kicked off with a highly charged rendition of ‘Mari Berpindah Minda’ sung by Sleeq, Roze, Afwan from JuzB, Daly and Zul Mystroe. Not to be outdone, the hosts were brought in on two Harley Davidson motorcycles. How’s that for a big bang to the show!
The awards show also saw guest performances by Aliff Aziz (Anugerah 2007), Taufik Batisah, Hady Mirza, Sarah Aqilah, just to name a few. Rock chicks, Nana and Salma, popular with her hit ‘Irama Rindu’ performed in a medley – it has been quite some time since we seen the latter! Nana appeared twice in medley for ‘Lagu Paling Popular’. Her effortless vocals was amazing, but we were quite hoping to watch another female singer in that segment. Wouldn’t it be a better combo for Art Fazil to appear with Sezairi Sezali? Oh, and why wasn’t Aliff Aziz nominated?
The best performance for the night had to be the collaboration of the best of the band members from Anugerah Band, like the way it should be. Fronted by veterans Yantzen and Hanafie Warren, the band turned MediaCorp TV Theatre into a rock concert deserving of a standing ovation. Amidst all the chaos and head banging, why wasn’t any of the band members from Rancour on stage at all? Hmmm. Eiss Ismail never disappoint with his own rendition of medley ‘Sanubari’, ‘Aku Bukan Sempurna’ and ‘Angkasa’. However, it would have been best if he was nominated too, and that he was singing his own song.
Let’s give credit nonetheless for Elfee R Ismail for his attempt in ‘Dalam Kenangan’ and ‘Dulu dan Sekarang’ as the tribute to the late Haron Abdul Majid. It was quite hard not to notice him reading off his left palm several times halfway through the song. Oops! Is it a case of unpreparedness or did something bigger happen that perhaps caused such circumstances?
The most emotional award given out no doubt was reserved for Rahimah Rahim who received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ or ‘Anugerah Primera’. Prior to her receiving the award, old footage of her were screened depicting her journey towards celebrity stature that she is today. Congrats Kak Girl!
With all the awards handed out, the artistes had their eyes fixed on the most coveted award for that night, ‘Most Popular Award’. It couldn’t have been harder to predict who’d win it than Taufik Batisah who also grabbed five other awards that night. His fellow Singapore Idol companion, Hady Mirza came in second whilst the third place came as a shock as Didicazli unseated the more popular duo, Sleeq.
Let’s hope for more new faces, and new nominees and perhaps a separate category for female and male artistes, as well as ‘Best Album Cover’, ‘Best Music Video’ as new categories would inspire many next year round?
Nevertheless, kudos to the organisers for the first attempt!
Congrats to all the winners!

It’s About Time For Aliff Aziz ditulis oleh Gumbira none Komen

It’s been over a year since his ‘Sayang Sayang’ hit brought him across the border. Now, out this month, Aliff is back with a groovier tune “Cinta”. We’ve noticed it on high rotation via Hot FM’s playlist tweet. The album cover of ‘It’s Aliff’s Time’ shows him donning a leather jacket, looking all grown up – a vast difference from his debut. The album is released and distributed by Sony Music (Malaysia).
The pity is that Aliff has just started serving National Service, so we don’t really think it was him to reply to your tweets. And according to his Fanpage, http://twitter.com/AlifAzizReal1 is another case of somebody else borrowing his personality. It’s fake.
Get the album now!

Anugerah boys 2005 made platinum sales for the Anugerah Kau Bintangku vcd. First ever local Malay sell-out concert at Max Pavillion and massive support for promo at East Point and Orchard Point. This was the turning point of Anugerah. New brand, New look, Better prizes with more sponsors! Many Malaysians (especially) thought 2005 was the first time Anugerah was being organized in Singapore. Due to the phenomena created in 2005, vast improvements have been made in the prizes offered for the following years.

Most of the champions used to/still reside at Yishun – Suhaini Anuar, Hyrul Anuar, Huda Ali and Rancour.
Hyrul Anuar, Huda Ali, Suhaini Anuar, Hazlina Halim (TGIF), Kelly Poon (Project Superstar winner) were from the same secondary school, Yishun Town Secondary School. Hyrul Anuar and Kelly Poon would still receive invites to perform or attend any of the school concerts/events. Hazlina and Hyrul were bestfriends since secondary one where both of them were in the Student Council. We Will Excel!

Khairil Yusof is an avid fan of Anugerah. Find out which year he never joined. Where has he been? Isit true he just launched his album at Bukit Panjang Plaza but no one was highlighted about it? Is he still working with the same car dealer agency? The industry needs to see him back and work something out with the Anugerah boys again. Winner of the ‘Most Emotive singer’ in PestaPestaPesta’06, he’s an icon for our local Malay ‘Jiwang’ songs. Step aside Didicazli.
