Anugerah boys 2005 made platinum sales for the Anugerah Kau Bintangku vcd. First ever local Malay sell-out concert at Max Pavillion and massive support for promo at East Point and Orchard Point. This was the turning point of Anugerah. New brand, New look, Better prizes with more sponsors! Many Malaysians (especially) thought 2005 was the first time Anugerah was being organized in Singapore. Due to the phenomena created in 2005, vast improvements have been made in the prizes offered for the following years.

Aliff Aziz was the first winner of Anugerah to get a recording contract deal from an international label. He made his mark in Malaysia with his hit single ‘Sayang Sayang’ under SonyBMG. The singer known for his ‘whispery’voice, was first spotted at Suria Raya Carnival bazaar where he entered a singing competition with his sister, in which he lost to her.

Hyrul Anuar is the first winner to perform for National Day Parade 2006 and President’s Star Charity, along with the other channel’s reality TV winner who were all Guys. Ie. Shabir(Vasantham Star), Kelvin Tan(Project Superstar), Milubing (Superband) and Taufik Batisah (Singapore Idol).

Shah Iskandar, Yuzaimi (Rancour) and Haizad Imram used to be from the Cleo’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelor; of different years. Mr ‘Hair-some’ Shah Iskandar also won Mr ‘Sungguh Hot’ organized by Sungguh.com. Some guys love to be in pageants too. Well, Aaron Aziz was from Manhunt and Cleo too!

Most of the champions used to/still reside at Yishun – Suhaini Anuar, Hyrul Anuar, Huda Ali and Rancour.
Hyrul Anuar, Huda Ali, Suhaini Anuar, Hazlina Halim (TGIF), Kelly Poon (Project Superstar winner) were from the same secondary school, Yishun Town Secondary School. Hyrul Anuar and Kelly Poon would still receive invites to perform or attend any of the school concerts/events. Hazlina and Hyrul were bestfriends since secondary one where both of them were in the Student Council. We Will Excel!

Khairil Yusof is an avid fan of Anugerah. Find out which year he never joined. Where has he been? Isit true he just launched his album at Bukit Panjang Plaza but no one was highlighted about it? Is he still working with the same car dealer agency? The industry needs to see him back and work something out with the Anugerah boys again. Winner of the ‘Most Emotive singer’ in PestaPestaPesta’06, he’s an icon for our local Malay ‘Jiwang’ songs. Step aside Didicazli.

Syed Azmir Syed Azman (SASA) used to join Anugerah, not as a solo singer but in a group. Can’t remember the name of his group. He used to have blonde hair! This ex-Sembawang Rangers Football Club player has released his album Sasa:ProsaX under the guidance of his mentor, Ajai and now managed by Beyond DDB in Malaysia, housing other talents like Ashraf Sinclair etc. Also remembered in ‘Puteri Omera’and ‘Erlin Montel 2’. But is it true he is not doing well in Malaysia? Is that why he came back to act in local dramas, with offers from director Azroy Sultan? Rumours speculating, he is calling it quit for singing, and intending to fly. However, Manja reported he will be releasing his second album late this year.

Tengku Adil was one of the hot favorite in Anugerah 2003, and now has released an album with his hit single ‘Itu Yang Pasti’. He made it through the tv rounds of Singapore Idol 2, but didn’t make it through together with Anugerah alumni, Roslan Mohd. Rumours speculating, he was romantically linked to fellow Anugerah-ians like Elfaezah Ulhaq and Nurul Jannah from Anugerah Skrin.

Elfaezah Ulhaq used to be labeled ‘arrogant’ in Anugerah 2003. She’s currently much more occupied shooting dramas on Suria, and working part time as a speech and drama teacher for kids. Her outstanding performance in ‘Jeritan Sepi 3’ highlighted her as one of the most potential upcoming star in the acting industry.
